Dining
There is no shortage of places to eat, in Siem Reap. Cambodian, Thai, Chinese, French, Western and Japanese cuisine is widely available and easy to find. The hotels too have international and local cuisine, so visitors are sure to find something to suite their palette. For an authentic experience, try the local beef soup or for a totally new experience for many, eel soup is a good bet.
The following restaurants are recommended: Bar Only One (French food), Hotel Bakong has nice restaurant that opens early offering good fruit salad and cold soda water for a reasonable price, Angkor Green not to be confused with the Greenhouse (try their delicious Green House shake), Arun (Khymer style fried rice with garlic, chillie chicken), one small portion is enough for two, Continental Cafe (chicken tikka sandwich), Phsas Chas in the new market (potato curry), Bayon which has a nice garden area.
These Pubs are worth a visit too: Zanzybar Pub near Hotel Bakong is run by to French guys and a nice place for a quiet drink. Disco Bak Heng is loud, dark, and smoky, but maybe you like that? Martini's has a nice outside garden area but has a long way to go to equal its Phnom Penh counterpart. It's a very quiet (outside) place to go for a drink. There are numerous others to discover for yourself, but these will give you a head start.
